About Fenchurch
They decided to call their brand Fenchurch after a part of London where they used to skate. Their friends at New Deal Skates shared their vision and provided the backing they needed to get started and their logo was created by their friends at Slingshot Design. They bought their first industrial sewing machine and taught themselves pattern cutting, grading and formal tailoring in an effort to really understand how clothes are made. They then made their first prototypes.
In 2001 they built their team of sponsored skateboarders and bmxers.
Almost a year later, with their first catalogue printed it was time to hit the UK market. Their first ads appear in Document, Sidewalk and Ride. Designed as teaser ads, they featured no product, just the logo and names of team riders. They pre-sold their first range of men's clothing to 35 of favourite skate shops. The range had a total of 30 pieces.
In 2002 they launched their website, their ads began to feature the product and their very first collection was delivered to shops in Spring 2002. It sold out in an amazing 4 week period! Gathering speed, the Fenchurch logo gains recognition and the collection grew resulting in the move from their warehouse shack of a home, into luxury offices.
They started 2003 with the launch of their first ladies collection of sexy, feminine streetwear. Everything was happy in the land of Fenchurch, until disaster struck. Their beautiful new home was burnt to the ground - everything was lost. With all their samples lost in the fire, they showed up at the TBC tradeshow with pages of their sales catalogue on hangers and a fire extinguisher. Ironically they got complimented on their "cool and original" approach to tradeshows!
Down but not defeated Fenchurch came back stronger than ever, and they turned their attention from skate to street fashion with new ad campaigns in The Face, Dazed and Confused and ID. Fenchurch exploded into Eurospace. They opened offices in Hossegor, the surf capital of France and Germany and made their first European appearance at the tradeshow Bread and Butter in Berlin. Ads appeared for the first time in European magazines including Lodown, Streetwear Today, Clark, Blast and Spray.
Fenchurch by Royal approval - Prince Harry made headlines wearing a Fenchurch "This Generation" tee and the first Fenchurch flagship store opened at 36 Earlham Street in Covent Garden.
Fenchurch separated from its mother company and became independent. Internal restructuring put them back on track and ready to face a new year more focused than ever. Viva Espana! Action Factory from Barcelona joined the Fenchurch Family as their first distributer.
2006 - Fenchurch spread its European wings, with new distributers across Italy, Benelux and Scandavia. The Fenchurch Flagship store celebrated is first birthday.
2008 - They launched their Fenchurch Friendly range of organic and fairly traded clothing, spearheaded by their friend Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly who agreed so strongly with them that he agreed to appear in an ad. They were also putting the finishing touches to the Fenchurch Loves Bottletop collection of ethical products made from ring pulls collected from the streets of Salvador, Brazil, then followed with some celebrity endorsed ads for AW08 which featured Goldielock and Just Jack among others.
2010 - Fenchurch was ten years old!
