  • The logo which has defined the Stussy brand started in the early 1980s after Shawn Stussy began scrawling his surname on his handcrafted surfboards with a broad tipped marker. He began using the logo on T-shirts, shorts and caps that he sold out of his car around Laguna Beach, California. By 1992, Stussy was sold throughout the United States specialty boutiques and department stores alongside other high-priced "California lifestyle" clothing.

    In 1979 Shawn Stussy first signs his name on surfboards, creating a logo that is then transferred to T-shirts. In 1984 Stussy, Inc. is created with partner Frank Sinatra and then in 1993 the Stussy Sista line is launched. In 1996, Stussy resigned as president of the company and Sinatra bought his share of the company holdings then in 2001 Stussy, Inc. is rumoured to be for sale.

    Synonymous with street culture, and worn by DJs to skaters alike, Stussy’s appeal strikes far and wide and is known for being one of the oldest and original streetwear brands.
